Four top gastronomic destinations to seduce your palate
07 de August 2024

Paradores’ gastronomic areas are a highly recommended option, especially in the summer. Their terraces, which offer inspiring views of either the beach or the rich history of their surroundings, are just the beginning of an exceptional culinary experience. What sets them apart, however, is their commitment to informal cuisine, celebrating the tapas tradition. Here, generous portions, fresh seafood, succulent meats and tempting desserts are designed to be shared and enjoyed over long, pleasant evenings. These four gastronomic spaces have menus that will not go unnoticed and are ready to seduce your palate.

Mar i Vent: the luxury of eating on the beachfront

What makes it so special?

This gastronomic space is part of the Parador de Aiguablava, a coastal refuge located on Punta D’es Muts in Girona. The restaurant offers the luxury of dining right on the beach with unbeatable views of the spectacular paradisiacal cove of Begur, one of the most charming spots on the Costa Brava.

What are your specialities?

It is difficult to choose between so many delicacies, but if you are undecided, these suggestions will not disappoint you:

Grilled dishes. Our customers most appreciate the fresh fish of the day grilled in our charcoal oven and the exquisite grilled prawns from the nearby coastline. If you are a true meat lover, the grilled beef sirloin with asparagus and the lamb chops with fried potatoes are options that will surely win you over.

Rice dishes. If you are accompanied, sharing a tasty paella is the ideal choice. The star dish is lobster paella, but there are other equally irresistible options, such as the fish and seafood paella tot pelat, a black rice dish with cuttlefish, prawns and ali oli, and of course, rice with seasonal vegetables.

Desserts. To put the finishing touch to the banquet, you can opt for classics of Girona gastronomy, such as crema catalana or La Fonteta goat’s curd cheese with honey. We also invite you to try our novelties for this year: the tartlet with creamy dark chocolate, almonds and strawberry ice cream, or the original roasted pineapple granita with rum and coconut mousse.

Enxebre Santiago: a temple of culinary pilgrimage

What makes it so special?

In Galicia, the word enxebre refers to the traditional. Therefore, the restaurant Enxebre Santiago, in the Parador de Santiago de Compostela, is characterised by putting on the table authentic popular dishes, faithful to tradition, flavour and authenticity. This stop is especially recommended for those looking for a good tribute to the most representative local gastronomy.

What are your specialities?

Fish. The typical Galician sardines from the Rías Baixas, known as Xoubas, wrapped in flour and fried, are an excellent option for enjoying the most representative Galician fish from the fish market. Equally appetising is the piece of grilled fish accompanied by garlic, tomato, and patatas a lo pobre or the slice of hake from Burela a la gallega.

Meat. The quality of Galician meats is evident in carne ó caldeiro, a traditional recipe that stands out for its juicy veal, cooked with lard and the paprika that gives it a unique touch. In addition, the spareribs from pigs raised on chestnuts and fried peppers are another of the dishes that the tourists who visit us year after year like the most.

Desserts. If you fancy bringing out your sweet tooth, try the baked apple with rice pudding cream or the exquisite creamy cottage cheese and biscuit. Both desserts promise a delightful experience that will delight even the most demanding palates.

Enxebre La Pinta: the best cuisine in front of the Cíes Islands

What makes it so special?

Another Enxebre is La Pinta, located in the Parador de Baiona. From its large, bright and airy windows, you can contemplate the paradisiacal Cíes Islands. Like Enxebre Santiago, its menu defends traditional Galician cuisine and is based on top-quality products. Among them, the veal with the Protected Geographical Indication seal of the European Union, which certifies the exquisiteness of its meat, as well as the delicious local fish and seafood, stand out.

What are your specialities?

Seafood. You can’t miss the unique octopus a la feria, the delicious Lousa de Zamburiñas á grella (small scallops) or the irresistible mussels in citrus fruit pickle with endives. These delicacies are an invitation to the senses, which will make you enjoy every bite.

Empanadas. Of course, our list of specialties could not miss the authentic Galician empanada. The menu always offers multiple options, including the legendary empanada (pasty) of the day, guaranteeing fresh and traditional flavours on every visit.

Meat. It is hard to resist a good veal entrecote, whose meat melts in every bite, releasing an incomparable juiciness. Equally tempting is the grilled Iberian pork fillet, which perfectly captures the traditional flavour of Galician meat.

La Tacita del Atlántico: a tapas corner

What makes it so special?

La Tacita del Atlántico is the gastronomic space of the Parador de Cádiz, located on a terrace facing the iconic beach of La Caleta. From this privileged enclave, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic, especially captivating at sunset, when the views become perfect photographic postcards. It is an essential stop for those who enjoy tapas and want to savour a unique culinary experience.

What are your specialities?

The strong point of La Tacita del Atlántico’s menu is its exquisite regional dishes:

Tapas. The undisputed star is the sea urchin, stuffed and gratinated with smoked herring eggs. However, there are also popular dishes such as shrimp omelettes and, especially, the selection of cheeses from the Cadiz mountains, renowned throughout Spain for their exquisite flavour.

Between 2 slices of bread. If you prefer a more informal cuisine, don’t hesitate to try the veal burger, accompanied by smoked bacon and payoyo cheese, made in the Sierra de Grazalema, famous for its exquisite cheeses. We also recommend our speciality, the Entrepan del Atlántico, prepared with brioche bread, ham, cheese, bacon, chicken and egg. A real delicacy that will not leave you indifferent.
