The Nature Trails Network spans over 11,000 kilometres across the country, winding through canyons carved out by great rivers, olive groves, ancient forests, sweeping agricultural plains, volcanic peaks, and timeless villages where life still follows the rhythm of the seasons. Crucially, many of these routes pass right by some of Spain’s most iconic Paradores.

Summer is the perfect time to create memories that stay with you forever, but at Paradores, we want something else to endure: the sustainable management of everything that happens behind the scenes of your stay. While you enjoy your holiday at our establishments, we work tirelessly to ensure that every decision—from how we use resources to how we reduce waste—is guided by circular principles. Because travelling well also means operating better.

This summer, the partnership between Paradores and the Oceanogràfic Foundation in Valencia is shifting its focus to illuminate, in a direct and visual way, how global warming affects both our oceans and the poles. The new campaign, ‘The New Warm Times’, expands upon our well-known message “The sea begins here”, taking it a step further: what happens anywhere on the planet ripples out to the seas… and to the poles.

The latest edition of the Basuraleza campaign, coordinated by the LIBERA team (comprising SEO/BirdLife and Ecoembes) in early June, has produced figures that speak volumes: 148 tonnes of waste removed from natural areas across Spain, with 36 tonnes scientifically analysed to determine their origin and ecological impact. While the data confirms a worrying trend—revealing that 42% of the waste identified is plastic—it also highlights something equally significant: public engagement is growing, becoming more organised, and proving increasingly proactive.
