The answer lies in the concrete actions we take every day. Because progress is not just a goal, but an ongoing process that is measured, reviewed and improved. At Paradores, we want to share with you three key developments that reflect how we continue to reduce our impact and how, by choosing to visit us, you contribute to an eco-friendly stay that adds value to the local area.
In this regard, one of the key steps is measuring our impact so that we can take action. The annual update of our carbon footprint allows us to understand the environmental impact of our operations with greater precision and identify the main sources of emissions. This knowledge is essential for defining effective reduction measures and directing our investments towards more efficient solutions. Initiatives such as the Paradores Emergency Plan form part of this process, driving improvements in facilities and energy systems, as well as the incorporation of renewable energy, with the aim of progressively reducing our footprint.

But making progress on sustainability also involves verifying and validating what we do. That is why the recertification of the Ecostars label across all our establishments means much more than mere recognition: it is a guarantee that our environmental, social and governance performance has been assessed against constantly evolving external criteria.

Furthermore, taking direct action on the environment is essential. During March, several Paradores took part in ‘basuraleza’ litter clean-up days, a project by LIBERA (in collaboration with Ecoembes and SEO/BirdLife). These initiatives help remove waste from natural areas, preventing it from ending up in landfills—one of the main carbon sinks—and thus reducing its environmental impact. At the same time, they provide an opportunity to raise awareness and mobilise our teams, reinforcing an internal culture committed to caring for the environment.

All these actions form part of a single objective: to reduce our footprint, protect the environment and offer those who choose us the chance to be part of more responsible tourism. Because every stay can also be a way of caring for the planet, you can choose the eco-footprint of your stay.
