The circular economy is fundamental to how we view hospitality. It is not an abstract concept; it is a core line of work endorsed by the Circular Economy Commissioner of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, whose Second Plan sets out specific commitments that we are already putting into practice. We analyse data, review processes, and refine our operations to minimise waste, reuse materials, and manage resources as effectively as possible.
This approach is particularly evident at the Parador de Ibiza, a new opening in a destination where circularity is not just an option, but an absolute necessity. Balearic regional regulations encourage the entire hospitality sector to integrate circular economy criteria, and this new Parador has been established in perfect harmony with that vision. It is a prime example of how a destination sets the pace, and how we consistently rise to meet it.
The same logic drives our annual campaign to collect cork stoppers as part of the “Corazón de Corcho” (Heart of Cork) project, run in partnership with the Zero Waste Association. We recover and recycle natural corks to give them a second life—a simple, almost imperceptible gesture for our guests, but one that gains real momentum when, twice a year, we dispatch the collections from all Paradores. These are small decisions that, when combined, transform the way a hotel is managed and reinforce our commitment to circularity.
