Cro-Magnon Man Takes Antequera

 

If you have decided to return to your origins, the Parador de Antequera invites you to a setting surrounded by nature and history, where you will feel as if you are in the heart of prehistoric times... but with all the modern amenities! With views of the Sierra del Torcal, this Parador is perfect for an authentic cave man.

Since 21 February, the streets of Antequera have been filled with a carnival atmosphere, which continues until 1 March. Costumes, chirigotas and tradition with activities for all ages.

A fairy tale

 

Your reign begins at the Parador de Alarcón, a medieval castle that will be your palace for a day. Feel the majesty of this place overlooking the river Júcar, where you can live like a princess between walls and towers.

This town with just 200 inhabitants and its imposing castle will make you feel like you're in a fairy tale. 70 kilometres from the Parador, in Cuenca, the carnival takes place from 1 to 15 March, where you can enjoy parades, processions and competitions.

If you are a marine with an adventurous soul or a pirate, the Parador de Costa da Morte in Galicia is the ideal place for you. With the Atlantic Ocean at your feet and a wild landscape, this Parador will make you feel like a real captain on the high seas.

Besides, its renowned carnival known as the Entroido de Fisterra, will amaze you with its traditional Comparsas Contest and the Queima do Polbo, incinerated in the Praza da Ribeira by the pirates of Fisterra.

The Zafra Carnival is held from 28 to 4 March, when the city dresses up to bid farewell to Don Carnal in a wide-ranging programme of events with their epicentre in the Plaza Grande.
