Few experiences leave us more astonished than admiring a beautiful twilight at dawn or dusk. These are moments when purplish, golden, ochre, orange and reddish tones dye the landscapes with a special charm. The magic of the twilight hour reveals an extremely impressive beauty of our Paradores. Thanks to their privileged location, close to some of the most popular areas for viewing the first and last hours of the day, you can be sure to capture photographs and experience unforgettable moments.

Hypnotic sunrises and sunsets in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are, without a doubt, one of the best sceneries to contemplate sunsets. Our Paradors in the Canary Islands offer a unique panoramic view with landscapes that show the essence of each island.

From the volcanic sand beach of the Parador de El Hierro, the image of the sunrise, with its soft and warm light, transforming the ocean into a palette of warm and violet colors, suggests a moment of great beauty and serenity. If you are one of those who enjoy getting up early, there is nothing better than taking a walk around this place to sit, contemplate this scene and capture for your photo album one of the most beautiful landscapes of the whole island. And if you prefer to admire the sunset, the Orchilla lighthouse, located at the westernmost tip of Europe, is an ideal spot to visit.

The Parador de La Palma boasts a bucolic landscape during the twilight hours. In its gardens, with more than 70 native species, including the tajinaste, tabaiba and dragon tree, sunrises and sunsets are observed that embellish the horizon dominated by the Atlantic Ocean. Beyond our doors, it is worth exploring the Caldera de Taburiente National Park and the Roque de los Muchachos, two volcanic landscapes characterized by their great cliffs that, at sunset, come especially alive thanks to the reddish tones that illuminate the landscape.

Postcard sunsets in Andalucía

In Andalusia, perhaps the most popular sunsets are to be found.

The Parador de Ronda, located on a 120-meter deep cleft through which the Tajo River flows, is the ideal place to enjoy breathtaking sunsets. From the end of the New Bridge, you can contemplate the fusion of orange, reddish and ocher tones that adorn the landscape and crown our building. In addition, on the terrace of the Parador you can taste specialties from the mountains and dishes with bullfighting influences, while you marvel at the views that stretch across the horizon.

In Granada, the viewpoint of San Nicolas is famous for attracting thousands of tourists who wish to contemplate the most impressive panoramic view of the Alhambra. And is that the sunset, embellishing the entire architectural complex with the city at his feet, has become one of the most beautiful sunsets in our country. And speaking of the Alhambra, next to it, the Parador de San Francisco awaits you. It is a convent built by the Catholic Monarchs on an old Nasrid palace. On its terrace you can also enjoy magnificent views of the Generalife while sipping a refreshing cocktail.

Other places not to be missed

It is essential to visit, at sunset, Las Médulas, a stunning landscape in the province of León, declared a World Heritage Site. Our Nature for the Senses program at the Parador de Villafranca del Bierzo organizes excursions in this environment. On horseback, we will ride along the main trails and reach a high point to contemplate the best panoramic view with the sunset behind the mounds. After this adventure, there is nothing as good as satisfying your appetite in the Parador's restaurant, delighting ourselves with the products of the vegetable garden of Bierzo and the famous botillo with cachelo and cabbage.
