If you’re looking for rest and relaxation, the Parador El Hierro is the place for you. It’s situated between a volcanic mountain and the ocean, in the middle of a huge black sand beach. From the room windows, you can look out over the immensity of the Atlantic and enjoy the sound of the waves. The pool is so close to the sea that you can almost touch it with your hand.
One of the island's biggest attractions is diving. It has nearly fifty dive sites where you can explore a unique and lively underwater landscape. El Hierro has a large variety of landscapes, despite being the smallest of the Canary Islands. One of the most characteristic landscapes is in El Sabinar, where the junipers twisted by the force of the trade winds will make you feel as if you’re in an enchanted forest.
El Hierro shares one of Paradores' commitments: sustainability. It’s the first island to be self-sufficient in renewable energy sources.

Take advantage of the Paradores offers
Diving enthusiasts are in luck on El Hierro. The water stays at temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees, with a visibility of up to 50 metres. There are 46 dive sites all over the island. In the Mar de las Calmas marine reserve, just a few miles from the coast, you can dive in protected waters that are up to 300 metres deep and full of cliffs, caves and dense vegetation. Additionally, the underwater volcanic eruption in 2011 has further increased the variety of marine species living in the area. You might see elephantfish, groupers, moray eels or lobsters and, with a bit of luck, dolphins, whales, manta rays or sharks.
If you prefer hiking, El Hierro offers an enormous number of trails through desert areas, forests, volcanoes, cliffs and plains. Many of them pass by some of the viewpoints with the best panoramic views of the island. After your hike, have a dip in one of the spectacular natural pools, such as Charco Azul.
You can also take the opportunity to visit the three municipalities in El Hierro: Valverde, Frontera and El Pinar. And you could finish your trip by discovering every corner of the island from the sky. El Hierro is a favourite destination for paragliders due to the trade winds and mild temperatures all year round.
