The region of Liébana is one of the most visited destinations in Cantabria, not only for its landscape, but also for its historical and artistic heritage. Highlights include the 6th-century monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, the 11th-century Romanesque church of Santa María de Piasca and the 10th-century Mozarabic church of Lebeña.
A few kilometres away is Potes, the town of bridges and bullrings, especially that of the Infantado, where exhibitions can be seen today. Potes is also renowned for its cuisine and its urban area is full of restaurants where you can enjoy local dishes such as the famous cocido lebaniego. Potes appears on the list of Spanish villages along with Mogrovejo, which was declared a Historical Site due to the excellent preservation of the traditional 16th-18th century manor houses.
