In the centre of the island of Gran Canaria, lies the Parador de Cruz de Tejeda. Situated at an altitude of 1500 metres, its location at one of the highest points of the island is responsible for some stunning views. From your room you can admire the mountains and the volcanic Caldera of Tejeda. These views can also be had from the outdoor hydrothermal pool where you can relax while admiring the sea of clouds.
The Parador is located in Tejeda, the second smallest village on the island. Here you can visit the Cruz de Tejeda, which gives its name to the Parador and marks the geographical centre of the island. The village, famed for its almond trees, sits on the slopes of a crater. Stroll through its streets to can admire its houses built in the traditional Canary Islands style, with white façades and wooden balconies.
The rugged landscapes of the central area of Gran Canaria are perfect for hikers and climbers, although there are also short and easy trails for less experienced hikers. The most popular route leads from Tejeda to the Roque Nublo, a natural monument almost 90 metres high at the highest point of the island. If you get there, you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views of the Tejeda caldera, the Pozo de las Nieves and, if visibility is good, even the peak of Teide.

The island of Gran Canaria offers an enormous variety of plans. If you’re looking for sun and sand, head to the Maspalomas Dunes. It’s in the south of the island and constitutes its main tourist centre. There’s a huge beach, a field of living dunes, a palm forest and a lagoon.
At the other end of the island is the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A stroll through the narrow streets of the Vegueta neighbourhood is a must. You’ll find historical sites such as the Casa de Colón, the Cathedral of Santa Ana and the Bishop’s Seat. Triana is another of the city's most characteristic neighbourhoods, where you can enjoy Modernist-style buildings and the Pérez Galdós Theatre. The visit can’t end without a stroll or perhaps even a swim at the extensive Las Canteras beach.
Gran Canaria has other special places to offer such as the canals of Puerto de Mogán or the fishing village of Agaete. Feel like a local by visiting the venerated Basilica de la Virgen del Pino in Teror, and discover the remains of an ancient Canary Islands settlement in the Cueva Pintada museum.
There are several trails from the Parador de Cruz de Tejeda to the Valle Escondido, Roque Nublo or the Caldera de Bandana, among others. Check the conditions at the Parador.
The Parador de Cruz de Tejeda is located 35 km away from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It’s noteworthy for its impressive views of the immense volcanic caldera of Tejeda, which can be enjoyed from the rooms and the terrace. The Parador also has a restaurant where you can enjoy the local cuisine and different halls for different meetings and events.
