Nature for the senses: snow trails
16 de February 2026

As you know, the Nature for the senses programme is Paradores' commitment to a new way of travelling, one that is more aware, more leisurely and deeply connected with the environment. A programme born out of a commitment to sustainable ecotourism, the protection of biodiversity and support for local producers and communities that keep the heart of rural Spain alive.

It is now, in winter, when snow transforms the landscape, and the Pyrenees provide one of the most evocative settings for the programme. Come and find out about this activity and don't hesitate to sign up if you visit either of these two Paradores.

The Pyrenees in winter, an experience for the senses

In the Val d'Arán, snow is not just synonymous with skiing. It is silence, light, white-covered forests and trails. Very close to the Baqueira-Beret ski resort, the Paradores of Arties and Vielha are the perfect starting points for discovering the Pyrenees from a different perspective.

The Parador de Arties, a jewel of 14th- and 15th-century Aranese architecture, offers a warm and welcoming refuge after a day in the mountains. From its windows you can gaze at the snow-capped peaks and the charm of the historic centre of this mountain village, where tradition and nature go hand in hand. For its part, the Parador de Vielha, in the capital of the Val d'Arán, combines the comfort of comprehensive facilities with the lively atmosphere of a town steeped in history, culture and life.

Both Paradores participate in Nature for the Senses with a programme designed to enjoy winter in an eco-friendly and environmentally aware way: Snow Trails.

Snow Trails: walk, observe, feel

Snow Trails is an invitation to delve into the winter heart of the High Pyrenees through a guided snowshoe route. An experience designed to be enjoyed in small groups, connecting with the mountains by going beyond sport.

The route begins at Pla de Beret, in the Orri de Beret area, and gently winds its way from the Baqueira area into the silence of the forest. With every step, the snowy landscape sets the pace: animal tracks, whimsical shapes in the snow, high mountain flora adapted to winter and the calm that can only be found far from noise.

The destination is Estany de Baciver, but the real value of the activity lies in the journey. Walking slowly, observing and letting yourself be enveloped by the serenity of the landscape are essential parts of this experience, designed for all levels and adaptable to the group.
