This summer, fire left scars on landscapes that for centuries have been a refuge of beauty, biodiversity and memory. Forests, mountains and villages have seen how the flames altered not only the landscape, but also the daily lives of those who inhabit it. These are resilient communities, deeply connected to their environment, which today need support, presence and hope more than ever.

At Paradores, we want to play an active role in this recovery. In Villafranca del Bierzo, Verín and Puebla de Sanabria, three destinations that have suffered directly from the effects of the forest fires, we have decided to open a window to regeneration. From 15 September until the end of the year, all guests at these Paradores will be able to enjoy the Nature for the Senses, programme free of charge, an experience that invites them to reconnect with the land, to feel it and to care for it.

We believe in tourism that transforms, that is supportive, that gives something back. And we do so from our Paradores, where every gesture counts and every visit can be part of the rebirth.
Activities that awaken the senses and regenerate the bond with the environment
As part of the Nature for the Senses programme, the Paradores in Verín, Villafranca del Bierzo and Puebla de Sanabria offer a carefully selected range of experiences that invite you to reconnect with the landscape, culture and local biodiversity. These activities, now free for guests until the end of the year, are much more than leisure: they are a way of getting to know, appreciate and protect the region.

In Verín, visitors can become beekeepers for a day, canoe down the River Tera, discover the history of wine-making among wine presses or explore the natural monuments of Sanabria.

In Villafranca del Bierzo, visitors can immerse themselves in the traditions of El Bierzo through horse riding trails in Las Médulas, visits to centuries-old vineyards and tours of the historic quarter.

In Puebla de Sanabria, activities revolve around wolf ecology, wildlife observation and trails through the main monumental trees of Sanabria and their importance as living beings and in traditional rural culture.

Each of these experiences has been designed by the people of the region themselves, who know and love their environment like no one else. These activities are designed to awaken the senses, foster respect for nature and have a positive impact on local communities.

Through them, at Paradores we are doing our bit, contributing to the revitalisation of the environment and the well-being of those who live there.
