Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Halle Berry, Marion Cotillard, and Pierce Brosnan are just some names that have set foot on Spain’s stunning beaches. The uniqueness of our coastal spots has made many film directors realise they are unique filming locations for their films. Beaches full of dunes, golden sand, wild and even exotic overtones have allowed major productions such as 007: Die Another Day or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade to be filmed in our country. Now is your time to discover these paradises and plan your next trip. Very close to these beaches, a Parador awaits you to offer you an experience worthy of kings.
The beach that won Brad Pitt’s heart
The cast of Allies, headed by Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, went to Maspalomas beach in Gran Canaria to film scenes reminiscent of the Moroccan city of Casablanca. Perhaps it was the dunes, the explosion of warm tones, or the scenic beauty that were decisive in the crew’s choice of this idyllic island. Today, Maspalomas is still an incredible destination, full of palm groves and vibrant nightlife, which concentrates a large part of the tourist attraction.
Best of all, a trip to Maspalomas Beach is the perfect excuse to enjoy a stay at the Parador de Cruz de Tejeda. At an altitude of 1,560 metres from its terrace, or while relaxing in the outdoor hydrothermal circuit, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the cultural landscape of Risco Caído and the sacred spaces of the mountains of Gran Canaria, declared a World Heritage Site. You can also stroll around Tejeda, recognised as one of the most beautiful villages in Gran Canaria. A stroll through its streets is enough to admire the beauty of its traditional white houses and its emblematic wooden balconies.

Indiana Jones on the Beach of Monsul
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford, found an ideal setting for the adventures of the famous archaeologist. With its crystal clear waters, fine sand and eroded lava rock formations, the setting provided a spectacular backdrop for the iconic film series. In addition to the film, the beaches, part of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, have been featured in numerous commercials and music videos for well-known artists such as David Bisbal.
To make the most of this and other areas of the Almeria coast, there is nothing better than staying at the Parador de Mojácar. Its location is ideal, nestled between the stunning scenery of the Sierra de La Cabrera mountain range and the unspoilt beaches of the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve. Just a few steps away, you can reach the nearest beach and enjoy the Mediterranean. If you prefer the pool, you will love spending long hours swimming with views of the ocean or simply relaxing in a hammock, completely disconnecting from the routine.

El Cid, Babieca and the North Beach of Peñíscola
The North Beach of Peñíscola, in Castellón, became a historic setting for the 1961 film El Cid. In this film, Charlton Heston, playing the Cid Campeador, rides along this emblematic beach on the back of Babieca, with the majestic Castillo del Papa Luna as a backdrop. Subsequently, the series El Chiringuito de Pepe, starring Adrián Rodríguez, Santi Millán and Blanca Portillo, also chose this location. The stunning images of the coastline captured during filming attracted numerous tourists to the area.
Just a stone’s throw from the North Beach and nestled in a picturesque seaside town, the Parador de Benicarló awaits you. Here, you can enjoy an oasis of tranquillity with stunning views of the Mediterranean from sunrise to sunset. During your stay, enjoy delicious seafood and fresh produce from the local market gardens in the restaurant. And, of course, be sure to visit La Arrocería for authentic Valencian paella.

Sky Rojo on the beach of Las Teresitas
Sky Rojo, the production created by the director of La Casa de Papel, chose Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Teresitas Beach as one of its key settings. During the plot, you can admire a breathtaking panoramic view of this corner at sunset. In addition, arid areas near El Médano, the Costa del Silencio and Arico, particularly striking for their warm-toned landscapes, also formed part of the filming. And, of course, the Teide National Park was another of the main sets, which Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Lali Expósito and Verónica Sánchez visited.
In fact, within the Teide National Park is the Parador de las Cañadas del Teide, an ideal place to enjoy spectacular views. At night, the sky is filled with stars, which makes August, with the Perseid rain, the perfect time to visit. During the day, from its facilities, you can admire incredible views of Spain’s highest peak, a truly breathtaking sight. Also, don’t miss the chance to try the restaurant’s specialities, such as goat stew, rabbit in salmorejo (gazpacho) and papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes).

The mythical 007 on the Beach of La Caleta
Die Another Day, the acclaimed film of the James Bond 007 saga, recreated a city of Havana on the Cadiz beach of La Caleta. It is impossible to forget the iconic scene in which Halle Berry emerges sensually from the water, capturing the full attention of agent James Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan. La Caleta, a small cove between two castles, has become, thanks to this peculiar location, one of the most emblematic places in the province.
The Parador de Cádiz is located next to La Caleta beach. From its terrace, rooms and spa, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the entire bay. In addition, the Parador offers wellness treatments that will allow you to return home with a radiant complexion and renewed energy. One outstanding example is “Japanese Secret”, an aromatic and sensory experience that, through the power of flowers, firms and moisturises the skin.

Verano Azul on Burriana beach
Verano Azul, the iconic 80’s series that marked a milestone in Spanish television, was filmed on the picturesque Beach of Burriana, in Nerja. Considered by many to be the best beach in the municipality, Burriana stands out for its 800 metres in length, its crystal clear waters and its charming promenade, named Antonio Mercero, in honour of the producer of the series. In addition, the Beach offers a unique library service, from which you can benefit by bringing some form of identification.
Less than ten minutes from Burriana, on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, is the Parador de Nerja, a perfect retreat for a dream holiday. This place offers a variety of activities, from tennis and paddle tennis courts ideal for enjoying in company to an inviting swimming pool to relax and disconnect from routine. To top it all off, its cuisine, influenced by Arab and Andalusian traditions, delights with dishes such as Malaga zoque (gazpacho), Hass avocado salad with mojama (cured tuna), and baked wild rockfish with patatas a lo pobre (poor man’s potatoes).
