Located in the beautiful Asturian town of Cangas de Narcea, the Parador de Corias has been voted Best Non-Urban Hotel in Spain by readers of the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler magazine. It’s situated within an impressive monastery declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument and is known as the Asturian Escorial. Its cellars house a beautiful museum where you can see the archaeological remains of the first 11th-century building. The rooms have spectacular views of the mountain lanscape and the Narcea River.
Corias is the only Parador where guests share the space with the former tenants. The Dominican community that has resided in Corias for 150 years were relocated within the monastery after the building spaces adjacent to the church were adapted, and they are currently in charge of keeping it open.
Next to the Parador, a Roman bridge takes you over beautiful trails to the Nature Park of Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias; the Integral Reserve of Muniellos or the Partial Reserve of Cuetu d'Arbas. The village of Canas de Narcea, just two kilometres away, will surprise you with its beautiful churches, palaces and mansions. Highlights include the Basilica of Santa María Magdalena, the Palace of Omaña, the Palace of Toreno and the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Acebo.
The Parador de Corias has a heated swimming pool, sauna and Turkish bath, and offers numerous rooms for banquets, conferences and all kinds of events.

Cangas del Narcea is just two kilometres away from the Parador de Corias. We know you’ll love to walk through its streets full of mansions, palaces and churches, a reflection of the lineage of the first Asturian kings, who had close ties to this area. Highlights include the Basilica of Santa María Magdalena which has been declared a National Historical-Artistic Monument, the Palacio de los Llano, the Palacio Condes Toreno, the seat of the Town Hall, and the Monumento al Minero (Monument to the Miner).
The monastery where the current Parador de Corias is located is also a Historical-Artistic Monument. The former stables house the visitor's centre Casa del Parque de Fuentes Narcea, Degaña e Ibias, perfect for lovers of hiking, hunting, fishing, cycling and adventure. A visit to the Bosque de Muniellos nature reserve, the largest oak forest in Spain inhabited by brown bear and capercaillie, is a must. The whole region offers a network of Short and Long Distance trails with more than 300 km. There are accessible routes for beginners as well as for skilled mountain enthusiasts.
Cangas de Narcea is also an important wine-producing region, where you’ll find the Wine Museum and visit some of the region's wineries. There are other towns and villages of great tradition and beauty nearby, such as Ḷḷamas del Mouro, known for its black pottery, or Bisuyu, which retains the purity of Asturian constructions. The Sanctuary of the Virgen del Acebo, one of the Marian sanctuaries of Asturias, lies 12 kilometres away from the Parador.
