This Parador does not represent the group for hotels. We arrived for a 3 night stay looking forward to a break. On arrival we negotiated how to get to the door and drop our bags then to find parking in the public car parks outside the hotel.
The hotel was crowded as there was a wedding in full swing. That’s fine but did I book to be amongst hundred plus people with children running wild up and down corridors – no. I noticed at the beginning that everyone was wearing coats and hats inside the hotel. We checked in to be told dinner was not possible until after 9.30 pm because of the ‘wedding’. This was not what we wanted but as we had a booking including dinner, we did not really have a choice.
We proceeded to the room and after a long drive attempted to have a nap. The room was freezing and no amount of changing of the thermostat made any difference. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable I ever lay on. Two singles with a canopy frame around it. The repair and maintenance to the room was poor. Door to bathroom dragging on tiles and hard to close. Cracked tiles (clearly for a long time) on bathroom floor. Disgusting mould and brown around the taps in the shower ( over bath). The room was dark with only one small window with the wind whistling around it and a substantial draught coming through it. For a superior room there was nothing superior about it. The saggy sofa with stains on it. Etc etc etc.
After half an hour or so we thought a warm drink would help. The loud music was now streaming all over the hotel. We went to the bar area – again heaving with people, nobody serving – yes all to busy with wedding. W sought a table and a member of staff - nobody, went to reception and was told that the wedding – should finish at 9pm. Yes the heating was broken, the WIFI does not work in that part of the hotel. A member of staff took our order in the freezing corridor, directed us to the residents lounge. The door leading to the music for the wedding was open and clearly the wedding guests were all using the area as well. A waiter came eventually with our drinks. He said we could go to the gaol room – yes it was freezing, hot drinks were not on offer so we had two cocktails. Served in a beer glass.
We went back to reception and asked for the duty Manager – she does not work on Saturdays or Sundays but maybe on Monday we could see her. I said call who ever is ion charge so I can speak to them on the phone. They would not. The suggested that we go outside in the square to find an outdoor bar – yes, it is around 0 degrees.
For dinner we arrive and finally get food about 10.15 – this is way too late. Staff are clearly stretched, and the dining room is full of annoyed people. Parents with children as they are tired and cranky and not getting food. We ate and went to bed.
Within 30 mins of going to bed my Husband was up getting sick and yes it went on all night. At 8am he was so ill I called a Doctor who said it was most likely food poisoning. We took the decision to leave and go back home. I went to reception to state what the position was, two new members of staff on duty – knew nothing were not interested. I asked again for a manager and was told that she was not available. They did call her and gave me a card for her Virgina Rull – most be the most elusive Manager anywhere. If you are off duty you have a deputy. It is not good enough.
We left and I said I would settle the bill when we had a chance to speak. Now today the full charge has been made to my card.
My emails, calls all have went unanswered. who ever is in charge of this organisation get in touch,
