The Parador de Mérida, one of the first in the network of Paradores, stands on the site of the Roman praetorium, on top of the ruins of the temple dedicated to the Concord of Augustus, inside a 17th c. Baroque monastery founded by the hospitaller order of the Franciscan monks.

 

Located in the heart of the city, the Parador breathes heritage and history. It is a Castilian house in which the architecture and its personality have been preserved, with elegant balconies, extensive gardens, children's playgrounds, spacious lounges and swimming pool. It also has a bicycle rental service. In its restaurant there is no shortage of typical dishes including Migas del pastor, Manchego lamb shoulder, Tiznao de bacalao and Pisto manchego.

You enjoy the Parador de Lerma already from dozens of kilometres away. The Ducal Palace of Lerma stands, elegant and sober, at the top of the town; it has stone walls, more than 200 iron balconies and four towers with slate roofs.
