The artistic heritage of Paradors

Architecture, painting, sculpture... A great legacy for the visitor

Destinations in themselves

Liveable museums

Art is part of our DNA. Paradors have carried out a work of historical recovery that has restored the splendour of many of its buildings. Monasteries, palaces, convents and castles that are now emblematic of our chain.

Places that take you back in time thanks to the conservation work that has enabled us to bring together a collection of almost 10,000 works of art.

An inventory that covers our entire history, with archaeological elements, carvings, paintings, tapestries, pieces of furniture and contemporary works by great artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Classical Heritage

A unique collection

Countless projects have enriched our historic and new Paradors with the work of Spanish artists and those closely linked to our country. Classical art is nourished by artists such as Juan de Juni, Cornelis de Holanda, Guilliam Forchondt and Luca Giordano. Pieces as iconic as later ones, from the 19th century, with the hallmarks of Lucas Villaamil, Ludwig Von Langenmantel, Darío de Regoyos, Aurelio Arteta, Andrés Parladé and the outstanding still lifes of José Gutiérrez Solana.

The current look

Contemporary art

Twentieth-century Spanish art also plays a major role. Ramón Gómez de la Serna, Francisco Bores or Rafael Durancamps or the representatives of the Madrid and Vallecas Schools, such as Menchu Gal, Luis García Ochoa, Cirilo Martínez Novilllo, Agustín Redondela or Álvaro Delgado exhibit their particular perspective in Paradors.

Our accommodation also boasts an important collection of works by Antoni Tapies, Modest Cuixart, Lucio Muñoz, Luis Feito, Juana Francés, Juan Genovés, Joaquín Michavila and Julio López. Not forgetting the presence of 21st century artists such as Rui Macedo, Francisco Leiro and Rubén Rodrigo. A collection as eclectic as it is fascinating.

  • Place for an annunciation

    Parador de Lerma

José Manuel Ballester made this digital print on canvas in 2007 that eliminates from the scene the characters from the famous painting The Annunciation by Fra Angelico (1435), which is in the Museo del Prado. In this reinterpretation, the spaces take centre stage and the absence of temporal reference forces the imagination to complete the work.
