Parador de El Saler
Considered among the 60 best courses in the world and the top 3 in Europe according to professional players, institutions and specialised press.
The Parador de El Saler golf course is considered by professional and amateur players, institutions and the specialised press as one of the best golf courses in the world. Built in 1968 by Javier Arana, believed to be the great architect of Spanish golf and of international renown, the course is located in El Saler Natural Park, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, in the Autonomous Community of Valencia.
The design gave importance to the integration of the golf course into the protected landscape (native plants such as the famous Portulaca). The course has a variety of areas, ranging from beach links, similar to the famous Scottish golf courses, to areas of typical Mediterranean forest. The total length of the course is 6,042 m, spread over 18 holes, with a par of 72 strokes. The club has a golf school, driving range, 3 putting greens, 2 approach greens, pro-shop, club, trolley and electric car hire, restaurant and snack bar.
It is also another example of our commitment to sustainability and the environment thanks to its special irrigation system with 100% recycled water.

El Saler, Arana’s gem
In the early 1960s, Javier Arana, undoubtedly the best golf course designer Spain has ever had, was walking through the pine forest of El Saler, located next to the beach, and with his special intuition he realised that this piece of land could be used to build a magnificent golf course.
After much effort, the Ministry of Information and Tourism agreed to the idea and began the construction of the current Parador, commissioning Javier Arana to build the golf course.
As was his custom, Arana had the wisdom to respect the natural landscape as much as possible, including as many pine trees as possible and the sand dune that separates the pine forest from the beach. The result is already known to all those who have visited this golf course. It has very wide fairways in general, enormous and difficult greens, almost a hundred bunkers, some of them natural, taking advantage of the dunes, and which, without having any other special difficulty, make it difficult to obtain a par 72.
Anyone playing at El Saler should know that it is one of the best courses in the world and is located in a privileged spot much loved by all Valencians: Dehesa de El Saler.
Walking along the fairways, stepping on the tees and above all the greens is equivalent to enjoying an air of freedom; in fact, the air, the breeze provided by the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea, turns the course into a reason to suffer and enjoy.
The record for this spectacular course has been held by German Bernhard Langer since 1984 when he shot 62 on the fourth day of the Spanish Open. He only made 22 putts. He went on to win the final round. The women's record is held by Nuria Iturrios, with 65 strokes in 2012.
El Saler has hosted important national and international events in different categories, including the Spanish Open in 1984, 89, and 2001, the Seve Trophy 2003 and the Spanish Open 2013. The best European players have played there. Severiano Ballesteros, the best Spanish player of all time, was a clear admirer and defender of El Saler.

Institutions
The European PGA has chosen it as the venue for several of its tournaments, valid for the European Professional Golf Tour. This is a recognition of the quality standards required at the highest level of professional golf.
The Parador de El Saler golf course (Valencia) successfully passed the previous inspections of the PGA-USA and PGA-Europe on the occasion of the pre-selection of golf courses to hold the prestigious Ryder Cup, for the first time outside the traditional venues in the United States and Great Britain.
Over the years, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation has selected the El Saler course for the celebration, under its auspices, of both professional and amateur tournaments in Spain.
Players
The great professional golf players agree that the course is one of the best in the world. Among a multitude of testimonials in this regard, it is worth mentioning that of the German player Bernhard Langer, who holds the course record with a score of 62 strokes, ten below par.
The same opinion is held by sthe great Spanish masters: Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, etcetera. Great Spanish players such as Marta Figueras-Dotti, Raquel Carriedo, among others, agree with this assessment of the Parador de El Saler golf course. In the international arena, finally, there is no great golfing figure of the last thirty years who has not played at El Saler and has not expressed his or her satisfaction with its special course.
Trade press
Both the Spanish and international specialised press share the opinions expressed above and highlight the virtues of the course, its sporting difficulties and its history, as well as the beauty of the surroundings, as its main advantages. The prestigious American golf magazine Golf Magazine has selected El Saler many times as one of the hundred best golf courses in the world in its annual ranking The 100 Greatest Courses in the World, where it was recently ranked at number 60. As proof of all the above, we must highlight the interest shown by the US PGA in being able to include the Parador de El Saler golf course in its network of associated courses (the best golf courses around the world) and therefore making it eligible to host one of its prestigious tournaments held outside the U.S. This is the ultimate recognition of the excellence of this course and its positioning and possibilities in the global elite from the sport of golf.
