We stayed one week in the room 118 (in the old monastery). The room was nice, clean and the room service was excellent. We enjoyed the library, beautiful public spaces and inner patio of this extraordinary restored building. The area is great for long walks and they are many interesting places to visit in the proximity of 1.5 h drive. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We strongly recommend to cancel the existing car parking which is located direct at the entry of the historical building and below the windows of the few apartments. Our room unfortunately faced this parking and this was very inconvenient as the cars all day long (guests visiting the parador) and in the night (guests leaving the restaurant) or in the early morning (guests going for excursions by minibus which waited directly under the window of our room) affected negative our stay.
The second recommendation we are happy to make is in reference to birds in the inner patio. As they are many loud and aggressive small birds flying around, picking food and making the restaurant tables and chairs dirty we suggest to spread a small-mesh net over the patio as we have seen in other paradors.
Habitaciónes muy amplias. Vistas privilegiadas. Limpieza impecable. En contra: no había iluminación nocturna entre el parador y el núcleo urbano (problema ajeno al parador, pero que nos afectó a los alojados). El motivo, entendemos que fueron las obras del castillo y muralla.
Stunning location & building. Everything super relaxing. I used the gym which was spacious and had old but well functioning equipment.
Restaurant and in particular breakfast staff were wonderful and rooms super comfy!
Just one negative that brings my score down:
There was an error with my booking (I booked a superior room but was put in standard). The receptionist admitted the error and told me there was nothing she could do (as hotel was fully booked) but didn’t apologise for the error which I found a little disappointing.
Would definitely recommend as lots of beautiful buildings and little restaurants and a few cute shops nearby
