The main attractions in Puebla de Sanabria is the Castle of the Counts of Benavente, one of the best-preserved castles in the province of Zamora. It stands on a hill, very near the Plaza Mayor square, and inside its restored interior you can visit a library and a cultural centre.
On the outskirts of Puebla de Sanabria is the Lake Sanabria Nature Reserve, the largest glacial lake of in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Europe, where impressive waterfalls are formed. You can take a dip in the lake or walk along its calm waters under spectacular sunsets.

In Puebla de Sanabria and the surrounding area there are many hiking routes and places to make excursions. Some routes are well-known, such as Las Cascadas de Sotillo or the Laguna de Peces. Other spots such as El Bosque del Tejedelo or the surroundings of the Hermitage de la Alcobilla are also favoured destinations for nature lovers. In the Lake Sanabria Natural Park is the largest glacial lake in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Europe. It has several sandy and stony beaches where bathing and fishing are allowed.
