[email protected]The Parador de La Gomera is a real spectacle for the senses. It is located on the edge of the ocean, with a panoramic view of the island of Tenerife and the peak of Mount Teide. With its gardens full of cactus, palm trees and other subtropical species, it’s the perfect place to disconnect surrounded by nature. The Parador is in a Canary Island-style building from the Columbian era, with wooden coffered ceilings and large courtyards full of vegetation. The most surprising area is the swimming pool, with its spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Mount Teide in the background.
It is in San Sebastián, the capital and port of entry to the island. It was Christopher Columbus' last port of call before setting out on his voyage to discover America.
If there’s one thing that makes the island of La Gomera special and unique, it’s the Garajonay National Park, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. It has an ecosystem that’s unique in the world, namely a laurel forest. The Park retains prehistoric vegetation thanks to its temperate climate. As well as being a Biosphere Reserve thanks to its terrestrial and marine ecosystems, the island also retains its traditions and customs, some of which are thousands of years old. The Silbo Gomero, which has been declared part of the Common Heritage of Mankind, is the island’s aboriginal language used by shepherds to communicate between the steep ravines.

To enter the Garajonay National Park is to take a trip back in time. It is undoubtedly a must-visit if you’re staying at the Parador de La Gomera. Its ancient ecosystem of laurel forests, the mist and the intense humidity, the mosses, lichens and ferns make this place unique in the world. If you want to learn more about its curiosities, the Park offers free guided tours that are suitable for everyone. You can also go alone and enjoy the more than 600 kilometres of trails spread all over the island.
The Parador de La Gomera is located in the capital, San Sebastián, which abounds in traditional Canary Island farmhouses, such as La Laja, Tejiade and Vegaypala. In the north of the island, just over half an hour's drive from the capital, is Agulo, a beautiful little village known as "the bonbon of La Gomera". Another distinctive place on the island is the Los Órganos cliff, which is formed by volcanic rocks in the shape of organ pipes that fall into the sea and which can only be reached by boat.
La Gomera also has an infinite number of viewpoints from which to enjoy the views. One example is the Mirador de los Roques’s viewpoint, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the ocean, the island of Tenerife and the peak of Mount Teide.
You can also take a dip in its black sand beaches.
