The Parador of Jaén crowns the city from the hill of Santa Catalina. It is next to the castle, which is one of the most iconic places in the city and is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest. In fact, our hotel is in what were once the castle’s stables.

It reopened in 2020 after a major refurbishment and a change to the decoration to highlight the building’s stone and arches.
Its traditional Andalusian Renaissance style combined with regional craftsmanship has been maintained.
The Parador is some 800 metres above the city of Jaén, so the views are spectacular, from both the rooms and the common areas. Inside you can enjoy the impressive vaulted ceiling in the main hall, the arches and the chandeliers.

Take advantage of the Paradores offers
The most notable historical buildings in the city of Jaén is its cathedral, in the heart of its Historic Quarter. It’s one of the most notable Works of the Spanish Renaissance, although its facade shows Baroque influence. It’s the only cathedral in Spain that’s surrounded by balconies. Upon leaving it, in the Plaza de Santa María, you’re in the best area to enjoy tapas in the classic pubs and bars of Jaén.

Nor should you miss losing yourself in the Arab Baths, the largest and best-preserved in Europe. They are in the Villadompardo Palace and were built in the 11th century. What better way to cool down after a long day spent visiting the city?
The province of Jaén also offers unique places such as Baeza and Úbeda. If you’re a lover of nature, you can discover the Sierra de Cazorla and la Sierra de Mágina and the distinctive olive groves.
