[email protected]The Parador de Ávila is located in the former Palacio de Piedras Albas, a 16th-century palace in the historical centre of the city and overlooking its monumental walls. Its interior is intimate and cosy, the rooms are spacious which makes them perfect for rest and relaxation, and the dining room overlooks the garden and the wall through a glass-walled patio. This makes the Parador a majestic site, in keeping with many of the buildings you can find in this World Cultural Heritage city.

The Parador is surrounded by gardens where you can explore an archaeological collection of sarcophagi, baptismal fonts and a boar from the 5th century BCE. Its restaurant offers traditional Castilian delights such as beans from El Barco, pucherete teresiano (pork and vegetable stew), a veal cutlet, roast suckling pig or the delicious sweets called yemas de Santa Teresa, indelibly associated with Ávila. Additionally, once every year the Parador holds a Gastronomic Conference of the Judías del Barco beans.
You’ll love wandering through the streets of Ávila’s old quarter, strolling along the ramparts of the city walls and visiting the first Gothic cathedral in Spain, where you can admire the impressive altarpiece by Pedro Berruguete. The Sierra de Gredos National Park is an hour away and another good option for nature lovers.

Take advantage of the Paradores offers
Located in the city centre, the Parador is a good point from which to begin exploring Ávila. Its walls, its impressive Gothic cathedral, the convents of the Teresian order, and the palaces adjoining the walls will be the main stops on your tour. But this Castilian province has other treasures beyond its walls, such as the Castro de Cogotas and the Bulls of Guisando, the archaeological heritage of the Vettone civilisation. The Sierra de Gredos National Park, an hour's drive away, is another good alternative if you’re a lover of nature and green tourism.

If you have time, you could head to two other World Heritage Cities: Segovia (66 km) and Salamanca (100 km).
The Parador de Ávila occupies a 16th-century palace in the historical-monumental centre of the city, inserted into the majestic walls that surround it. Its location, facilities and the professionalism and experience of its team make it an ideal site for hosting all sorts of events.
