A Renaissance palace in the middle of the Alava plain and just a few metres away from the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, is the site of the Parador de Argómaniz. A peaceful place in which to disconnect and enjoy nature, located in a strategic enclave in the north of Spain. The building, which dates back to the late 17th century, is Baroque in style and has an austere air.
One of the most special areas of the Parador is its restaurant, located in the former palace granary. It retains the original wooden coffered ceiling and has characteristic porthole windows that are reminiscent of a Basque tuna boat. Here we can enjoy local and traditional Basque cuisine, paired with the area’s wines and cheeses.
Just 12 kilometres away from the Parador de Argómaniz is the green and cosmopolitan capital of Vitoria, where we can enjoy its history and exquisite cuisine. Don't miss the Old Quarter, its palaces and parks, and of course, a route to taste the best pintxos in the Basque capital.
If you haven't already done so, here you’ll succumb to the wines of La Rioja Alavesa, their texture, their smell and their exquisite flavour, accompanied by elaborate pintxos in bars and terraces in the city or in our Parador, where we await you with the best cuisine and, as usual, with an excellent service.

The Parador de Argómaniz is located in the heart of the Llanada Alavesa, a stone's throw from Vitoria. Just opposite is the Garaio Provincial Park, on the banks of the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, where you can enjoy one of the few blue-flag inland beaches in Spain. Behind it looms Mount Gorbea, an essential route for all mountaineering enthusiasts.
From the Parador you can visit the traditional cheese dairies in the area, the Rioja Alavesa wineries, the Salto del Nervión waterfall, or the Salado de Añana Valley, with its saltwater springs that emerged more than 200 million years ago.
Its strategic location gives travellers easy access to several capital cities in the north of Spain. Bilbao, San Sebastian, Burgos and Logroño are less than 100 kilometres away. The nearest capital, barely 12 kilometres away, is the modern yet historical city of Vitoria. This capital city offers visitors an Old Quarter with dozens of monuments and pedestrian streets to lose themselves in. It also boasts the title of Green Capital and has a green ring that runs around the city.
The beauty of the landscape and the uniqueness of the building make the Parador de Argómaniz the perfect setting for weddings or events of all kinds. Legend has it that this was the very spot that made Napoleon decide to use the palace as a resting place before taking the city of Vitoria.
