[email protected] | [email protected]History and modernity go hand in hand at the Parador de Alcalá de Henares to make a unique combination. The building itself, made up of three restored 17th c. convent schools, blends together with designer décor without losing its historical flavour. Outstanding features of parador include the spectacular cloisters, the Jardín Tallado and the spa, located under the vaults of the old convent church.
The Parador is ideal for events, meetings and celebrations of all kinds thanks to its 5 room Convention Centre and the Auditorium, which can be divided into 6 additional areas. Added advantages are its location just twenty minute away from the airport and the IFEMA trade fair facilities, while Madrid is only half an hour’s drive away.

The Paradores company has been present in Alcalá de Henares since 1930, when it opened the Students Hostel, the third establishment in the Paradores Network. The current Parador, which occupies three of the colleges commissioned by Cardinal Cisneros (…).
The Hostel, opened in 1930, is located in the Manzana Cisneriana, occupies the historical Colegio Menor de San Jerónimo o Trilingüe, granted to the Spanish National Tourist Board by the Sociedad de Condueños de Alcalá for restoration and safekeeping.

Alcalá de Henares, City of Arts and Letters, is synonymous with culture. The birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes and the Complutense University founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1499, it has been a World Heritage Site since 1998. The Parador’s privileged location means you can enjoy a walk in the nearby historical quarter : discover the spectacular Chapel of San Ildefonso, the Archbishop’s Palace and the baroque convent of the Bernardas, wander along the Calle Mayor, which is pedestrianised and always full of life, or stop off at the Plaza de Cervantes, the heart of the city, where you will find the Corral de Comedias.
Alcalá has a wide range of cultural activities on offer throughout the year. It has three festivals declared as Fiestas of National Tourist Interest : the Semana Cervantina (Cervantes’ Week), Holy Week and the open-air representation of Don Juan Tenorio by José Zorrilla that has been held since 1984. Every 23 April the city also celebrates the Cervantes Prize for Literature at the University Auditorium.

Begin your tour at the Calle Mayor and head towards the essential sites: the Cervantes Birthplace Museum, the Cathedral, the University of Alcalá, the Corral de Comedias, the open-air Museum of Modern Sculpture, the Capillas del Oidor and the Monastery of the Bernarda nuns. Nor should you miss the beauty of the Salón Paraninfo, where the prestigious Cervantes Prize for Literature is awarded, or the many historical buildings where the storks, who are now part of Alcalá’s landscape, make their homes.
Once you’ve discovered all that the city of Alcalá de Henares has to offer, and if you’d like to explore charming spots full of history, we recommend an excursion to Chinchón (29 km) and Aranjuez (67 km). If you’re travelling with children, we recommend a visit to the Parque Europa in Torrejón de Ardoz, a place that impresses both children and adults. Admission is free and it’s only 14 km away from the Parador de Alcalá.
Given its proximity to Spain’s capital, you can't miss Madrid’s most attractive tourist areas such as the Paseo del Prado, the Austrias area, the Barrio de las Letras, La Latina, or more commercial areas such as Calle Serrano in the neighbourhood of Salamanca.
The Parador de Alcalá constitutes an incomparable setting where tradition and the avant-garde combine to house all sorts of events in its facilities, with a total surface area of approximately 1000 m2 and a convention centre located in the former 19th-century workshops, with the most advanced equipment, meticulous service and personal coordination to ensure that each event is a complete success.
