Nerja

Nerja is a maritime village famous for its coast as well as for its cultivations. The Arabic origin of the village makes it a historic place full of interest. The beauty of the village resides on its narrow streets with white walls. You can find so many churches that deserve to be visited, as the Ermita de Las Angustias and the El Salvador Church, both of them from the XVII century.

Parador de Nerja

One of the most famous spots in Nerja is the Balcón de Europa (Europe's Balcony), an open vantage point to the Mediterranean Sea. It is a must if you visit Nerja, everyone goes there and it is a place where wonderful views of the sea and the coast can be enjoyed. Next to it, you can find the Ermita de San Miguel, another charming church in Nerja.

As for the sea, Nerja is placed in the southern Mediterranean coast. In total, there are 14 kilometres of coast to be enjoyed. A combination of cliffs and golden sand beaches compose the coast of Nerja. El Salón beach, where the Balcón de Europa is, Calahonda Beach and Burriana beach are some of the most famous beaches of the region. El Playazo beach is another one, and it is one of the less urbanized ones. The all-year-long soft weather makes Nerja the perfect destination for a beach getaway.

Nerja Cave

Essential! If you visit Nerja you cannot miss the Nerja Cave. It is probably the most famous thing around the place because of being a prehistoric treasure with cave paintings and archeologic remains. It is considered one of the most important topographic sites in Andalusia and it has been declared both, a Historic-Artistic Site and a Site of Cultural Interest. Everyone who visit them enjoy the experience so much! They are located really close to our Parador de Nerja, so you cannot say no to them.

You should know that, apart from the general visit, there are three different Exclusive Guided visits in which, when the cave is already closed, a group of people will go through the inside and discover some of the secrets of the cave. Check them all here! Any more information you may need about the cave, its prices and visits can be checked here, the Nerja Cave Foundation website.

Gastronomy

What else can make out of Nerja a worthy place to be visited? Of course, its gastronomy. The Mediterranean diet is the base of it, but it also counts with local subtropical fruits, such as mango or avocado.
